Do You Fit in at Work?

When You Work With Mean Girls

Have you ever worked at a job, where you don’t fit in with the rest of the crowd, because they have been there longer? It doesn’t matter how hard you work or what you do, they always point out your flaws even if they have a million of their own.

Mean women, who find ways to make you hate going to work, always show your boss the mistakes you make even though you find more of theirs than you could ever have. Why are these women allowed to exist in the work place? Well most of the time bosses are unaware that these women are harrassing new employees for their own personal needs.

If you are in a work situation, that makes you go home every single night and cry or wish the weekend would come so you don’t have to look at or hear those mean women for a few days, you are not alone. It is estimated that in every work place there are those women who treat someone other than with respect.

You can’t go to your boss because their friends so what do you do? Handle your business and let them have a piece of their own pie. You can tactfully show them that their meaness is not going to derail your job, all the while enjoying your job to it’s fullest. Why should these mean women spoil your day?

If you know your doing your best, first ignore them and if ignoring them doesn’t work, then speak out. Don’t hold it in you will explode one day.

You don’t have to yell or be angry when you talk to them because if you are calm, cool and collected, they will hate it that much more.

What about the Divas that come to work and let you do all the work? Ever come across those? Well its simple: start having a long relationship in the bathroom daily until you see them doing their fair share. The work can’t sit there forever if its a job that everyone does. We all get paid to do the same thing, why should you have to work harder than the rest because you’re new?

You have a right to work stress free from these negative nellies and enjoy work since you have to partake in this joyous occassion for at least 45 years or more. You have a right to not have to feel uptight every single day of your life. If these caddy women are making your life miserable, then start looking for another job. It’s not worth the stress it takes to spend the day mad.

Give them a piece of your mind but in a nice way. Mean girls hate nice people. They are seeking someone to make mad on a daily basis and if you get angry then they have succeeded.

How to Deal With Difficult People at Work

How to Successfully Fit Into a New Job

When you have aced the interview and are hired, it is your job to make sure you know and understand the job that you were hired for. Some people may be impatient training you on some things because its just second nature to them. You may have to occasionally remind them that you want to know how to do the job correctly.

Feel out your coworkers to see which ones seem more approachable when you are seeking guidance. Some people are more patient then others and don’t like training new employees even if they were once new.

Tell your coworkers good morning so that they feel like you want to be part of the team. It’s not your job to let them in on every part of your life. You are there to work. Ease into things about you without letting them discover everything you do or every move you make. There will always be those coworkers who are nosey and want to know when, where and how. It’s up to you how much you want to share with them about your personal life but I wouldn’t suggest telling them too much too soon.

Pay attention to detail. Make sure that you know what is expected of you from your supervisors. When doing your job for the first time alone, never skip any steps. Do it like it was taught to you. There is plenty of time for you to learn to cut corners even if its not recommended.

Are You Going to Be a Good Fit?

You Can Probably Tell in Your Interview If You Will Fit In

When you go to an interview you can decide whether you think you will fit in with the people in the office.

First see who greets you. You can usually determine that person’s attitude before your ever called to the interview room.

I have went on interviews that I knew I was not going to accept the job just by the way people acted.

Secondly if you are being interviewed by your immediate supervisor are they just ho hum at asking questions or are they trying to pull the best out of you. If you are peer reviewed by others in the office see how they act towards you. Sometimes you can get a feel of the environment just by meeting people.

Thirdly and lastly, ask to be introduced to the rest of the staff. Show them you are interested in being part of their team. I have never been turned down for a job in my entire life because I am a good judge of character. I have on occasion decided not to take a job I was offered because the feel of the office was not what I wanted and it’s ok to feel that way.

How to Make Interviewers See You as the Right “Fit” for the Job – 5 Tips

How Long Should It Take Me to Fit In

Many jobs, depending on the nature of the job, can take anywhere from three to six months for you to feel like you fit in. While starting a new job can be stressful because you are new and not use to the tasks you are given, don’t be hard on yourself if a month has gone by and no one loves you yet.

Once you have the job down to a science and you don’t need to lean on someone else for help, the others should come around. There is always going to be negative people in a place of employment because nothing will ever make them happy in life. Not now or ever. Don’t waste your talent by worrying about them. If the others in the office don’t socialize much with that person, then follow their lead. If you feel like everyone should love you, it is not going to happen because there are just those people in the world that love to cause drama and mayhem.

In closing always know your worth. Educate yourself about companies before you even go to your interview. Always dress to impress. Keep yourself upbeat everyday even if someone is trying to bring you down. Never let them make you feel unwanted. If you feel that way everyday then its time to look for a new job.
