Writing on Hubpages Finally Essay
Missing No More
After signing up on Hubpages seven years ago, I promptly went missing from this place. Then I forgot about it.
To my recollection, I don’t think I published a single article here, then. The reasons for that escaped me, somehow. Then again, I signed up at a lot (three or four, a lot) of writing websites back then, so Hubpages could be one of the ones which didn’t really suited my capabilities at the time.
I was way too amateurish during those times. Still am, actually, although I like to think that I have gain more confidence in my own skills now. It’s all about aspirations, you see. The more you know.
Anyway, I have rediscovered my writer’s voice, so here too, I will write my piece.
“I can shake off everything as I write; my sorrows disappear, my courage is reborn.” — Anne Frank
A New Start
Several weeks ago, in October 2019, I was at a random writers’ forum and someone referenced Hubpages. I thought it sounded familiar, so I decided to check this site out. It turned out that I already signed up for an account here.
Well color me surprised and delighted.
That took the decision out of my hands. I finally decided to submit my very first article here.
I mean, don’t misunderstand me, it wasn’t a light decision to make, to finally start here. It took seven years in the making.
But, why did I sign up and then waited seven years to finally publish my work here? Here are the reasons, as mentioned :
1) I forgot I have an account here
2) I forgot my password
Why forget in the first place?
Well, I forgot why. Isn’t that a funny thing? The absent-minded poet syndrome, someone said once in a forum. I didn’t know that there exists such a malady, until I have it, methinks!
Why did I forget that I created an account at such a prestigious writing platform such as Hubpages? One would think that if I had immediately published my works here then, I would be settled quite nicely here by now. I would also be having a substantially significance presence in this site, possibly; built a strong reputation, maybe. Definitely having a solid foundation and knowledge on the inner workings of this place, certain to help in producing large quantities and good qualities of articles.
I would have found my niche and solidified my home here. This, after I have been thinking about it this past few weeks, would have been a good thing. However, better late than never.
This, for me, is a new start. It is a new challenge, a way to expand my wings as a writer and poet. Who knows where I will go or end up at, how far I can fly, what I will accomplish.
But, in all probability, it is an exciting journey to go on. Don’t you think so?
“You should write because you love the shape of stories and sentences and the creation of different words on a page. Writing comes from reading, and reading is the finest teacher of how to write.”
— Annie Proulx
The Travelling Poet
I like to refer to myself as The Travelling Poet, because I am always searching for inspiration and learning all I can about writing and poetry. So I go here and there in search of knowledge and hoping to gain experience. There was a time,as I mentioned earlier in this article above, that I was writing at several writing and blogging sites at once. Certainly, a few of those sites make for some nice pocket change, but the exposure and lessons learnt are worth more.
Certainly, the sheer amount of talented writers out here and there are so intimidating, but that is part of the challenge you can give yourself, to aspire to reach that level of greatness you admire and hope to be.
Aspiration and hope make the travelling poet strive to find success. Success is to find contentment in being the best that one can be, knowing that you give your all and do not shy away from new challenges which can only make you better.
The travelling poet, she walks here and there,
For she would find her place under the Sun;
Thus she writes, in trepidation and with care,
To give the readers what she thinks they want.
Oh give her wisdom, give her ways,
for to make her world come to life,
Give her nights, give her days,
For her dreams for which she thrives.
